So, just some silly things from this week.
On Sunday Robert watched Josiah while Shem and I went to town. On the way down, while eating a snack, I suddenly started to cough (I have been suffering from a cough for a while) and somehow, between the food I was eating and the phlem, I started to "suffocate." I frantically pounded on my husband's arm to try to get him to get water for me, but couldn't speak. He looked down at me as if nothing was wrong and then looked out the window, enjoying the scenery. I could feel my face getting redder and redder and felt like I was going to pop and die, from not being able to inhale anything except phlegm and crumbs. I shook his arm frantically again and squeaked "Water!" but, still not noticing, hissed "Ano ba!!" and looked out the window again. I really felt like I was going to die now, and shook his arm even more frantically croaking "TUBIG!!!!!" Hubby: Ano! You can't even get your own water!?" I felt like screaming "HELLO!!! I'm sort of like DYING right now, um, haven't you noticed?!!" and he was thinking "ANG ARTI NITONG BABAE! She thinks she's a queen or something!" After he gave me water and I stopped dying, I couldn't stop laughing. Guys are definitely different creatures :P
Today I went to Panicuason Elementary School, the public school up the road, because I was invited to be a judge at a Christmas competition. I felt a bit like a slug with salt when they called the other two judges and I up on the stage to give ribbons to the winners. All the teachers and the other two judges were dressed up so cute and handsome, looking so smart, but I was in my jeans and t-shirt. "Don't worry!" they assured me, "We know you're an American." They invited me back next year. Won't they be surprised when I come in totally bongang bonga, in a gown and all made up?! I'll show them a thing or two about REAL Americans. (right. *laughing*) Actually.... I'd be surprised, myself!
When I get to the last year of my education and have start my practical teaching and have to wear high heels and, blouses and cute straight skirts, oh, and poofy scarfs around my neck.... I will really have a time. Mom, is this why you made me wear tights to church and fancy shoes even when I didn't want to, and always nagged me to "Be a lady, for once!"? Maybe I should've listened.
